My First Time
Oh! Did the title of this entry distract you!? My eighth grade English teacher taught me how to “lure” readers in with my title. Being that a person’s reaction to something they see is based off the title or cover, it is important to immediately capture their attention! {SIGH} It’s late and I have Finance homework to complete by Wednesday, but I felt the need to do this. I remember my mother mentioning my cousin’s blog. I saved it to my favorites and today I decided to visit it. As I was reading her blog (alisha9.wordpress.com), I became curious yet amazed. One must be bold to open up to the world by expressing feelings, thoughts, or simply talking about their day. In 2008, it seems as if everyone is blogging. I think it’s safe to call it an “on line diary”. This is obviously not your typical diary, where you open up your book and begin to write. Here, you log in, select “write” and begin to type. This is a new experience for me, and I would be lying if I said that I am not intrigued by it. I decided to “let it flow” instead of contemplating on a subject. I’m in the mist of a big transition. Transferring to the University of Central Arkansas was an enormous move that I had to make. The “new student” feeling is not pleasant one bit. I am quite the steady type, and I don’t like change. But isn’t that what college is about? Change? Learning new things? I’ve come to the conclusion that MY college experience should be about first and foremost; working my way towards my bachelor’s degree, obtaining new information that will benefit me in the future, networking, and having a good time (but not too much). You may say I need to “lighten up,” but I say it’s simply determination. I have to make it. And since I am eager to do so, I will. My freshman year of college was fun, but not in the right ways. My sophomore year officially started one week ago. This time, I am involved on campus, talking to more people, and actually enjoying myself (which I didn’t do at NKU). Ultimately, your college experience is what you make it, and I’ve decided that I want to make it into one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
